How do promotions and prop deals stack up?
Posted on October 19, 2009While most poker prop rooms do not alow prop players to participate in any of the promotions offered, there are a few exceptions. Some rooms will allow poker props to take part in some of the promotions, while others will let them play in all the promotions offered, lifting all restrictions in this respect. It has to be noted though that poker rooms which let their poker props take advantage of promotions will offer a smaller rakeback percentages. In a word, there’s a trade-off between the prop rakeback and the value offered by the promotions.
As a poker prop, you need to know whether the trade-off is a good enough deal for you or not. If you’re a dominant cash game player, and you never play on scared money, securing as big a rakeback percentage as possible is the way to go. If you’re a better SNG or MTT player though, and you have difficulties adjusting to the pace of cash games, taking advantage of the promotion oriented deals makes decent sense.
