Prop restrictions explained – the number of prop players at a table
Posted on September 4, 2009You probably know about the fact that prop rooms limit the number of prop players at their tables. This is one of the reasons why props need to sign in with the shiftmanager before they begin playing: there's no way for a poker prop to recognize another prop at the table, but the shiftmanager can track them and distribute them at the tables according to the rules.
Why is the number of props at a table limited? The reason is simple: the poker room needs props to generate action, not to sit aside and play amongst themselves.
Heads-up tables usually allow a single prop (otherwise you'd end up with an all-prop table), 6 handed tables allow for 2 props and 10-handed ones for 3. Of course these numbers may vary from one poker room to another, but the restriction itself is always there.
This is why it is important to obey your shift manager when he tells you to move to another table.
