Why can't I see the prop site's name before signing up?
Posted on August 12, 2009That's a question many would be poker props ask me. How is it that I can't see the site's name until I sign up? I bet there's something shady about the whole setup...
Well, there isn't anything shady about it. The truth is, you can't see the site's name because it ain't public information, and it ain't that for several reasons. First of all, offering 100% or more rakeback is kind of an extreme player recruiting method. Some would be tempted to think it's even desperate and no site wants to go down in the public eye as desperate for fresh players.
Another reason would be that some folks assume poker props are all uber-skilled fanatics who do nothing all day long but play poker online. Since no one wants to go up against that kind of opposition, it would be bad publicity for the site to let everyone know about its prop program. There may be other reasons as well, but the bottom line is: there's nothing shady behind all that secrecy: it's about the protection of the site's long term interests, that's all.
